Review by hotel critic
Located in the vibrant heart of Santa Marta, Casa Avelina Boutique offers a unique balance of value and luxury for travelers seeking authentic experiences. During my stay, I was impressed by the modern design and aesthetically pleasing spaces, particularly the inviting outdoor area filled with lush greenery. The outdoor swimming pool was a standout feature—quiet and less crowded compared to other establishments, providing a relaxing retreat after a day of exploration. I appreciated the attentive service from Hector and Victor, who ensured a warm atmosphere while maintaining a high level of security. Comfort also prevailed in the spacious rooms, which were clean and equipped with essential amenities, including a flat-screen TV and free toiletries. The breakfast was satisfying, featuring local fare that set a good tone for the day ahead. Potential guests should consider the neighborhood’s atmosphere post-sunset; while it felt safe for someone familiar with Colombia, it might be unsettling for first-time visitors. Lastly, be prepared for the lively sounds of reggaeton, which could be a distraction for some. Casa Avelina presents a thoughtful choice for those wishing to balance comfort and budget, with an eye for eco-friendly practices.
